Details
This is the gesture of turning the wheel (chakra) of the teaching (Dharma). The gesture is reminiscent of the first sermon of Sarnath, in which Buddha explained the Four Noble Truths. Both hands are held in front of the chest. The right hand rests on the chest with the arm slightly bent, palm outward. The left hand covers it, palm inward, with some fingertips touching, as if counting on the fingers. Thumb and index finger of both hands (at chest level) form a circle. The remaining fingers are extended.
